Follow the show and the episode arrives the morning it's published.
In brief
- Techorama has two editions a year, in Belgium, usually in May, and in the Netherlands in October; each year has its own theme, this year the Middle Ages, and next year's is announced on the second day.
- The Netherlands edition hosted about 1,300 people over two days, sent by approximately 500 companies, with about 24 sponsors and partners.
- The sponsors are software providers, such as Elasticsearch and Particular Software, and local consultancy companies that also send their own people.
- This year even a Dutch defence delegation came, to recruit IT people to help keep the Netherlands safe from cybercrime.
- The future is "very AI-tinted", but many things are deterministic and better automated the way it was done 20 or 30 years ago; people are still looking for the balance.
- Counting both countries, Techorama is at its 19th edition.
- Techorama is at techorama.nl and techorama.be, and on Instagram and LinkedIn; it always welcomes feedback from attendees, partners and speakers.

Why this conversation
At Techorama Netherlands 2026 in Utrecht on 27 October 2026, the host asked Jorg Floren, of the team that makes the conference, where he was. “Well, today you are welcomed at Techorama in the Netherlands”, Jorg said, and went on to who comes, who sponsors, and where AI fits.
Twice a year, a theme each year
“We always have two editions per year.” One is in Belgium, usually in May, and one in the Netherlands in October. Every year has a theme: “this year, we’ve themed ourselves in the Middle Ages”. The theme of next year was to be announced the following day.
Attendees and sponsors
Over the two days the Netherlands edition hosted about 1,300 people. Approximately 500 companies sent their employees “to get some new knowledge into their employees”, and about 24 sponsors and partners were at the venue. The sponsors are software providers, “Think Elasticsearch, Think Particular Software”, as well as local consultancy companies that also send their own people.
Recruiting for cyber defence
This year, Jorg said, “we even have the Ministry of Defense or something, like the Dutch spies, have sent a delegation” to recruit IT people “to help keep the Netherlands safe from cybercrime”.
An AI-tinted future
“Well, the future is obviously very AI-tinted. That’s why the keynote was themed as it was.” He does not think AI is going away anytime soon, and sees a new synergy being built in how we adopt AI and align with it, “because sometimes people are too eager to use AI and they try to use it for everything”. A lot of things are very deterministic, and it is better to automate them “like we did 20 years ago, 30 years ago”, and to use AI whenever it is actually useful. “And I think that a lot of people are still looking for that balance.”
19 editions in two countries
Belgium has had 12 editions. The Netherlands edition started after the fifth Belgian one, so it is five short, and “in total, among the two, we’re currently at edition 19”.
Where to find Techorama
The websites are techorama.nl for the Netherlands edition and techorama.be for the Belgian one, and Techorama is on Instagram and LinkedIn. It always looks for speakers and good ideas, and welcomes feedback “both from our attendees, our partners, and our speakers”.
When it comes out
The episode is edited and in the release order. Like every episode it goes out on YouTube first, then on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.
